Here are some tips on how to properly use and care for
your lamps:
- Always exercise caution when lighting any type of candle
with a match.
- Never pull out a liquid wax cartridge wick to increase
the size of the flame! All wicks are preset to ensure
maximum burn times, and changing the length will actually
decrease the burn time.
- Never drop a match or other debris onto the candle.
This debris can act as a second wick and may subject the
glass to additional heat stress and potential cracking.
- Glass should be cleaned with warm water & detergent.
Glass holds its temperature for long periods of time and
placing warm glass in cold water may cause enough stress
to result in breakage. Also, never put glass globes in
a dishwasher.
- If you have a metal base it should be cleaned with a
soft, dry cloth. They’re treated with a protective
lacquer coating and should never be cleaned with an abrasive
cleanser.
- Lamp bases can be cleaned with a mild detergent and
water. Do not use an abrasive scourer or cleanser. They
are not recommended for dishwasher cleaning. For polishing,
standard brass or chrome products are fine- just follow
the instructions for use on the product you choose.
- IMPORTANT: Polycarbonate filters are
NOT flameproof, and will burn if put directly into flame.
- Fabric shades are also not dishwater safe - they have
been coated with a special fire retardant. Use a mild
detergent and cloth for cleaning
- Viva Lamps - the shades should not be washed, as they
will soften. Oil spills or grease stains should be attended
to immediately with a soft damp cloth.
- Soot should not be a problem as our cartridges are
smokeless, provided the wick is not tampered with. To
clean soot from glass, use a mild detergent and scourer.
Enjoy your lamp- it will "add the exclamation mark"
to your diners’ compliments for a great evening!
